No man is an island

Though not a simplistic love or heartbroken related quotes, the next quote is one worth your time and thoughts. It was written by John Donne, an English poet who lived approximately 500 years ago (1572-1631) and wrote in many types of styles, especially ones with religious and love motifs.

His most famous quote, also known as No Man is an Island or For Whom the Bell Tolls quoted below:

“No man is an Iland, intire of it selfe; every man is a peece of the Continent, a part of the maine; if a Clod bee washed away by the Sea, Europe is the lesse, as well as if a Promontorie were, as well as if a Mannor of thy friends or of thine owne were; any mans death diminishes me, because I am involved in Mankinde; And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; It tolls for thee.”

This beautiful quote actually means one basic thing: mankind is a social kind, one meant to share life with others. Again, this may not be connected directly to love quotes but can certainly apply in many broken heart related matters.

The Song of Songs by King Solomon

This Jewish biblical poet was supposedly written by King Solomon who had 1,000 wives (big authority on matters of the heart). This “song” is a beautifully written masterpiece 3,000 years old. Some say it is a love song to god or the bible, I prefer to interpret it for exactly what it is: a sensual love song sang in two voices, a man and a woman expressing their love for each other. The stuff worth quoting starts at bout chapter 3 (there are 8 chapters to the Song of Songs).

From chapter 3 and 4

“By night on my bed I sought him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not.”

“It was but a little that I passed from them, but I found him whom my soul loveth: I held him, and would not let him go, until I had brought him into my mother’s house, and into the chamber of her that conceived me.”

” Thy lips are like a thread of scarlet, and thy speech is comely: thy temples are like a piece of a pomegranate within thy locks.

“I sleep, but my heart waketh: it is the voice of my beloved that knocketh, saying, Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled: for my head is filled with dew, and my locks with the drops of the night.”

“My beloved is white and ruddy, the chiefest among ten thousand.”

“I am my beloved’s, and my beloved is mine: he feedeth among the lilies.”

“How fair and how pleasant art thou, O love, for delights!”

“I am my beloved’s, and his desire is toward me.”

“His left hand should be under my head, and his right hand should embrace me.”

“Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame.”

Chapters 5 and 6

“I sleep, but my heart waketh: it is the voice of my beloved that knocketh, saying, Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled: for my head is filled with dew, and my locks with the drops of the night.”

“My beloved is white and ruddy, the chiefest among ten thousand.”

“I am my beloved’s, and my beloved is mine: he feedeth among the lilies.”

Chapters 7 and 8

“How fair and how pleasant art thou, O love, for delights!”

“I am my beloved’s, and his desire is toward me.”

“His left hand should be under my head, and his right hand should embrace me.”

“Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame.”

There are some strong memorable quotes in the Song of Songs, though written in outdated language, the song is worth your time and thoughts, as it is one of the most beautiful and meaningful love poets ever written.

How many women have you slept with? Or if you’re a woman, how many guys have you slept with? “Sleeping with” is a slippery term, because technically you didn’t hook up for the purpose of sleeping, you had some other activity in mind. But still, depending on who you are (male or female) sleeping with someone, especially a new someone can be a casual experience or a major experience with numerous future implications.

The strong sexual identity

I am not a psychologist, and therefore unable to provide a reasonable scenario as to why some people are confident when it comes to sex and some are not. I can just state with a fair amount of confidence that this is the case in real life. To me, this is one of the most distinctive differences between the human species and the other animals: ALL animals take sex for granted, only humans, or at least some of them, fear sex and sexual relationships.

The lucky ones, the majority I presume, have a strong enough sexual identity. They perform well enough in bed to have multiple sex partners over time, and they accumulate enough experience to understand love making is not love, and they can go through quite a few meaningless relationships without getting swept over their feet.

This is the normal, animal like situation mankind should be in, exactly like the animal kingdom – without sex there is no continuity of the species. But somewhere along the way, something had gone terribly wrong – some humans are now afraid of sex and even think of it as an unnatural act! Mind you, I am not referring here to puritans, religious or teenage sex, but grown consenting adults who are simply afraid of sex for whatever psychological reason.

Something is not right

A lot of mature people, males and females, don’t have sexual life whatsoever. They either suffers from some sort of psychological trauma have some sort of physical problem or are otherwise incapable of having an intimate relationship. For those people, it’s not a question of how many sex partners did you have over the years but: are you ever going to get over your problem and have sex?

This problem, in my eyes, can only be described as a sever disability, with 2 possible solutions:

The ones having some sort of physical sexual disability can try artificial enhancements – some may work and some not, and do the best they can to overcome a horrible disability.

For those suffering psychological issues, a few options are available:

Get treated by a certified sexual therapist.

Get an optional surrogate treatment

Deal with it yourself

Most of these options require money and time, and lots of them – something not always available to the average person. The last option is the most difficult, and just like with other human issues such as obesity requires very strong will, stamina and self-belief, something that can be acquired over tine and with some self training, and is the obvious better solution.

Once upon a time, breaking up with someone was a clean cut case – you break the unfortunate news on a one on one serious talk and move on with your life. As the digital age progressed the dumped broken hearted party found more and more ways of stalking the abandoning partner and trying desperate and sometimes pathetic methods of winning their hearts back (usually to no avail).

First there was the phone. Once you had a phone number, you could repeatedly place “anonymous” phone calls pretending to be someone else, or at least beg for forgiveness or whatever. Avoiding those was pretty easy: either change your number or call the police. The next technological advancement brought email and the subsequent e-love letters – and harassments. Right about the same time, and ingenious wonder came along – the cell phone. Now you can not only place “anonymous” phone calls – but also send “anonymous” text messages – primarily via 3rd party wonders such as ICQ – allowing free text messages from unknown sources for almost a decade now.

Now all this is fine and dandy – you had plenty of ways for tracking down your ex and trying weird stuff (and I’m not going to go into the whole cassette players and mix tapes) – but things started getting a whole lot creepier when a new breed of websites came along – namely Facebook.

Nowadays, if you don’t have a Facebook account you practically don’t exist – and since you probably own one – this gives your abandoned broken hearted ex a whole new platform for tracking you down, tracking your current love life and stalking you in ways never imagined before. For some – Facebook is the ultimate stalking platform and a promise you can now shadow your ex for all eternity.

There are so many reasons for why you or anyone else got dumped it’s hard to point any specific reason. The most common reason though is because you’re a dumb inconsiderate a-hole always putting yourself first and having a hard time connecting with your life partner’s emotions. Doesn’t matter much though because one or two broken hearted relationships should fix that, if not – age will, that is if it’s not too late…

Another popular reason is age incompatibility. Meaning you are both the same age only she feels and behaves much more maturely – she is ready for the next step and you are not. Ways for fixing this situation are limited, good luck!

Money problems are another favorite candidate for getting dumped. Possible scenarios:

She makes more money than you

One party is in favor of a simple life and the other prefers MONEY.

Money is tight on both ends

Physical attraction to one of your life partner is another quite frequent reason for getting dumped out of a relationship. Quick tip: if you like someone else, dump your partner and don’t wait for them to dump you.

Delusions of Grandeur. Yeah, we’ve all been there – you think you’re too good for her, she thinks she deserves a lot better and so on. True for both males and females – you dump your partner simply because you are 100% sure you can find something better just around the corner and that you are 10X times better. Sometimes it’s true. Many other time? The dumped side hooks up with someone else a lot faster and leaves you frustrated and eager to start your next relationship.

That’s all for me for now, there are tons of other good and bad reasons why relationships end and maybe someday I’ll write about it.

Finding cute broken heart quotes that are both funny and comforting is no small task. A broken heart is often unable to accept comfort, and tends to find irony and sarcasm and even depression where there were none intended. Nevertheless, I tried finding a few that aren’t cheesy, corny or in bad taste.

Always wear cute PJ’s. You never know who you will meet in your dreams.

When you fall in love you should be speechless, because words can’t express true love.

True love is not about holding hands, it’s about holding hearts

Sometimes I wish I was a little kid again. Bruised knees are easier to mend than broken hearts J

Those who experienced a broken heart have better understanding of life and are eventually stronger because of that.

If you have loved and lost: remember the feeling when someone loves you and you don’t feel the same way about them.

Life is often a series of challenges, goals and turbulences. People cannot claim they have lived life to the fullest if they haven’t experienced a broken heart.

Global economy would be much

How time changes things… I now realize we were both wrong: I’m 10 times better than how you described me, and you are 10 times worse than what I thought of you.

Love is like a puzzle. When you’re in love, all the pieces fit but when your heart gets broken, it takes a while to get everything back together.

A cute pet or a puppy can help mend a broken heart, yes they can!

Like I said, I tried not to include the quotes I find corny or in bad taste, I hope I have succeeded.

Have a quote of your own? Post in the comment section, I’d love to hear from you.

Greatest broken heart songs list is something I would love to make, but it just seems like a task too hard to handle. Almost every other song written is about breakups; broken hearts, lost love or whatever love related issues.

However, every person on this planet who had his / hers heartbroken at one time or another, has their own short list of favorite heartbroken sad songs, so this is my short list:

Adam ant wonderful

Massive Attack protection (not a real heart break song, but moving none the less)

Actually, this is too boring and kind of useless, considering the fact that every each one of us has his or hers own favorite list of love songs. So instead of creating a list I just want to share one of the best love songs ever written and performed ever, by any artist. It’s not about a broken heart it’s simply a beautiful song and I thinks it is a good listening for every music lover… enjoy.

Girls tend to be more sensitive than boys, especially during puberty, adolescence or teenage periods. Later in life, many men would agree, women become more emotionally mature and suffer less from broken heart syndromes or relationship breakup depressions.

For the girls out there who are looking for comforting broken heart quotes, I suggest a few famous celebrity quotes. These quotes may not always be appropriate, or used in a conversation, but they may still comfort in your time of sorrow over a broken relationship.

It would be a challenging task: trying to find all the right quotes for heartbroken girls, but I feel this would not any good purpose. Instead, I would to suggest a book. It’s not a very well-known book, but in opinion it’s one of the best books ever written: about love and human nature.

It’s not an easy read – it was written almost 100 years ago, but still, I suggest you get a copy of “The Narrow Corner” written by Somerset Maugham. This books, especially the at the end of it, has some of the most precise insights into a tortured human soul than any other book I have ever read. Read once, lay it down and then read it again, you are guaranteed to mark some of Maugham’s sentences, remember them for life and make then you own broken heart quotes – good for girls and for boys alike.

Most people, women and men, experience a lost love episode that leaves them scarred to one degree or the other. Extremists say losing your loved one is similar to losing a child, and that may be true for some people, but its best putting things into perspective.

A partner in life is no way near to a having a child in terms of responsibly, long term commitment or influence on your day to day activities and behavior, though it may seem this way when breaking up.

When children are involved, they are the number one priority, no matter how badly you’re aching, and this is one of the main reasons why you should make amends with your old love.

Making amends with old love

If you don’t have kids, By all means, feel free to try and getting your old love back (no stalking is allowed!!!!) but when kids are in play, just leave it be and focus on them, they may be your get out of jail card. With kids you get unconditional love at least until a certain age and while this is by no means a romantic love, it has its advantages.

Just like in any other relationships, kids need attention and lots of it. It’s easy to ignore them and just let them do their own thing, but you would be much better off spending a lot time with your kids, getting to know them and giving them valuable life lessons.

While that should help in forgetting your ex and trying getting them back it also serves a much more important goal: loving your kids and preparing them to a life that may be less hurtful than yours: you can teach them that love comes in many shapes and forms, and losing it is not the end of the world, but an opportunity to start fresh and find a more suitable partner.

From biblical figures such as Samson and Delilah to totally fictional heroes such as Romeo and Juliet: history and current days have their fair share of heart breaking romances and love affairs.

Way back when

Back in the old, very old times, male men reigned supreme .They had the physical power to do so. Everyone knows the cliché of a man carrying a woman back to his cave after clubbing her… probably not a true scenario but one depicting the odds in a fair way. This inequality between women and men has existed up until recent history, and still is in many cultures. But women are catching up, faster than they ever did in human history.

While men had the upper hand with physical terms, women had had the upper hand emotionally. It is true today is has probably been since the dawn of history. In ancient history and indeed today, women get to choose the right male – whether for his physical strength, his sense of humor or the depth of his pockets – the woman in most cases gets her pick. For better or worst we are animals in our nature, and a male peacock is not that much different from the human male. But like any coin, this one has two sided – the other one being the oppression of women throughout history, much because men felt threatened and acted upon instinct.

No matter what the reasons are: the complicated women-men relationships had had they share in contributing many heart breaks over the course of history, we will try bringing some of these stories in future posts.

The bible (the old testament) has many stories about broken hearts, lovers torn apart, cheating spouses and even prostitution (showing us all that human nature hasn’t changed much in the passing centuries, and that the need to love and be loved is simply a part of our being).

Perhaps one of the most spicy biblical figure is the one of Samson (though not as well known as other romances, such as the one involving king David). Samson was a Hebrew judge – but is mainly known for other heroic events – especially ones with women involved.

Samson and Delilah

Very few people are actually aware of the fact that Delilah was Samson’s third wife. Yes – apparently even back then it was pretty common to have more then one marriage over one lifetime.. of course Samson didn’t break it up with his first wife because of a fight over who takes out the garbage – it was much more dramatic – he left her because of a bet!!! After a while he wanted her back, but she was already married to another, so all hell broke loose and almost started a war between the Israelites and the Philistines.

Following these events, Samson went on and married a second wife – a Philistine prostitute…. and they drove him from her – so he married a third wife – another Philistines woman – and she betrayed him and drove him to his heroic death.

So, being the nagging wife that she was (according to the bible) Delilah finally revealed Samson’s source of incredible power – his hair. Delilah told the secret to the Philistines who cut off his hair and eyes, bringing his untimely and glorious death.

The story of Samson and Delilah is just one example of many of how biblical times are not much different from current times when the human heart is involved.

More biblical love affairs coming soon
